Our ROCPLEX sales in China often receive the following questions: "Is particleboard particle board? Is plywood multilayer board?" Let ROC explain the difference between particleboard and plywood.
1. Particleboard is also particle board
Particleboard is also called solid wood particle board. It is also called particleboard because it breaks wood or other wood scraps into pieces, and then glues them under heat and pressure after applying adhesive.
Advantages of particleboard: relatively uniform structure, good processing performance, sound absorption and sound insulation performance are also very good.
Disadvantages of particleboard: the edge of particleboard is rough and easy to absorb moisture. Pay attention to edge sealing.
In order to avoid moisture absorption of particleboard, large brands will add moisture-proof particles when making cabinets with particleboard, which makes particleboard also have moisture-proof performance, which is also a major reason why large brands like to use particleboard to make wardrobes.
2. Plywood is also a multi-layer board
Plywood is a three-layer or multi-layer board made of wood segments spun into veneer or wood squares planed into thin wood, and then glue. According to the difference in the number of layers and quality of plates, the price span is also large.
Advantages of plywood: convenient construction, no warping and deformation, good transverse tensile resistance, various sizes, and flexible texture.
Disadvantages of plywood: the decorative performance does not meet the requirements of decorative panels, so it is suitable for making the back and bottom plates of furniture.
